Swim Float Swim Method

Young boy swimming

Our expertly trained instructors work hands-on with infants to establish life saving skills. In addition to more than 10 years of coaching experience, Head Coach Erina Williams trained alongside long time coach Pam Hartley and received training in the ChildSafe Swimming technique, which specializes in the swim-float-swim method.

What you'll experience with Provo Swim Academy:

  • A safe, fun, and rewarding activity for kids 6 months to 5 years.
  • One-on-one private instruction with a trained, experienced coach.
  • One day of survival training focused on what to do in an emergency.
  • And, underwater photography during one of the classes!

Just because we like to help, here are several techniques that, as parents, you should be aware of when teaching young children to swim.

  1. Floaties and life vests stunt a child’s ability to learn to swim. Rather, children should become comfortable on the steps of a pool or in shallow water first and then leave that area under the supervision of an adult.
  2. Children should never be in a vertical position in the water - they’ll sink. Instead, children should be encouraged to float on their backs or while on their stomachs, paddle with their arms, and kick.
  3. And last, using dive rings or sticks teaches children how to hold their breath and maneuver underwater.

Let us put our skills and knowledge of working with young children to work helping your kids learn to safely enjoy the water.
